Oh hey, I found the intro thread. Yay!
Hey everyone. I'm TWG. I've been lurking for a while and decided to join from KB. I'm loving the vibe here so I thought I'd pull up a chair and stay a bit. :-)

Hello, I'm another person who found this place via KBoards (same username there). I post there occasionally and really love it there, but saw a link for this forum and thought it sounded like a great place!
I write non-fiction only. I have several books so far that are selling "okay" (they bring in enough income to make a dent in my bills). I'm planning on a new one soon.

Hey Jimmy, welcome to the fold. We are thrilled to have you and your manly manliness join us for hopefully thoroughly scintillating discussion about trucks, and sports, and whatever else you manly men do.

I like you already, and I say that as a teetotaler who doesn't own a truck. Welcome aboard, Jimmy.

Hi, I'm the Iceman. I used to post at the Writers Cafe under my real name, but circumstances have changed. Looking forward to engaging and making new friends over here! Hopefully, one day I will feel comfortable enough to reveal my true Superhero identity....

Because I'm such a shrinking violet, lacking opinions about anything, and never wanting to make waves, I haven't bothered to identify myself here...only to post under a pseudonym that should be easy for anyone with poor priorities and an excess of two minutes to crack.
I'm a former nonfiction writer and editor who, late-life, turned to writing thrillers. I've gotten three series titles out, and they've been well-received. I'm at work on #4 and #5. I hung out at KBoards frequently during 2011-13, far less so over the past 5 years. The wheat-to-chaff ratio was getting too poor for my taste.
I'm here hoping to pick up good marketing advice. Feel free to share the Holy Marketing Grail. I promise I won't pass it along to a soul. It'll be our little secret.

Welcome individualist and iceman, we're so happy you found us! I hope you stick around and find a home of likeminded friends. Feel free to lurk and read, or read and post, as you wish. You can even respond to old threads if you like. Or you can start new ones! As I understand it the Holy Marketing Grail is still - find the people who love what you write, let them know you wrote what they love and where they can get it - make as much bank as is possible depending on the size of your audience. Alternatively, you can find out what people love to read, write that, let those people know you wrote what they love and where they can get it - make bank! The in between version is decide what you love to write, hope that it's more than one very specific subject, choose the biggest audience you can find that matches what you also love, write it - let your audience know - make bank. I know that is super simplistic and you're looking for the specifics. Hopefully you can find those specifics here. Feel free to start threads about the specifics you're interested in and hopefully we can all discover the answers together.

Hi, there, I'm Stormy. I'm an Indie Author myself, and loving it. I like to write about magic and fantasy, mostly, but I slip a few other things now and then.

What's your connection with Bookady? Did you start the company, or do you work there? Magic and fantasy are indeed fun things to write and read about.

Not that there's anything wrong with signing up as a pen name (I think most of us have). Provided the pen name is yours and not scraped from the internet, of course.

Wayne Hicks is my husband, and is a ghost writer extraordinaire, but we both do some ghostwriting at times. He had posted on reedsy some time ago and we added all of the books to try to draw in some new business, but it never helped. When I showed him the response from dormouse, he went and took the profile down, but we are both more than willing to prove this if necessary. PM if you need reassurance.
And yes, I'm one of the founders of Bookady.com. I think that authors should be paid as soon as possible when their works sell, but it seems like it always takes weeks and sometimes months to get paid by the big booksellers. I'm hopeful we might help to change that over time, if I can ever get other authors to give us a try. I personally see to it that payments go out daily, and I can attest to the fact that sometimes, getting the money quickly can make a difference.

Hi,
My name is Simon Neilson. I have been writing since I was 16 but never joined an indy writer forum before, but thought I would give it a try.
Currently have one book published on Amazon "Rogue Evacuation", two audio dramas and four novels due out this year.
Look forward to speaking to some of you.
Simon

Hello everyone,
Like most, I write more because I enjoy it than because I expect to make a living off of it. Of course, it would be nice if at least a few people read what I write.
My first book was published traditionally, and for that particular market - aviation history - there was really no other way to go. I found readers who, having bought the eBook on a whim, went back to buy the hard copy because for that readership having a hard copy on the shelf is still more valuable than having an electronic version at their fingertips.
But for fiction? I've concluded that indie fits my needs much better. I can focus on the writing process and enjoying what I write, not the endless rounds finding a publishing house. After all, writing should be fun, not just another day at the job.
Thanks again to all the administrators and moderators that help keep this site working as a resource for all.
J.W. Golan

Welcome to the forum jwgolan, pleased to meet you! That's great you were able to get a book published traditionally. I hope you have a lot of fun and find many new readers as you embark on your new indie journey.

Hello everyone,
I am DCM, and I am a relatively new indie author. I am still registered with Kboards, but will probably deregister now that I found this place. I am a speculative fiction writer with 2 novels published, a third soon to be published and a fourth that I have just started on. Also have a short book of dark poetry out there. I am pulling one of my novels from Kindle in preparation to go wide. I am so happy to find this forum. Love it so far.
Write on!
