First, thanks to K'Sennia for establishing this author services board! I'm moving my thread here.
COPYEDITING AND PROOFREADING by The Prose Polisher
A carefully edited manuscript goes a long way toward producing a high-quality, well-reviewed book. I'd love to help you achieve that goal.
I have an English degree from Boston College, and, most recently, have edited for a successful, award-winning author of historical fiction, and an author of dystopian sci-fi novels. My background includes decades of experience in writing, editing, and proofreading articles, grant proposals, news stories, promotional and marketing materials, and academic papers. Working with fiction, particularly from indie authors, is my preference. I especially love historical fiction, romance, mystery, contemporary fiction, and YA works. Your manuscript will receive careful, thorough editing and/or proofreading from someone with a firm but gentle hand. I'm not going to attempt to change your voice as the author.
Proofreading is appropriate for a manuscript that has gone through several drafts and needs a final check before submission. $.006/word ($6/1000 words)
Copyediting addresses word choice, clarity, tone, continuity, and other issues that can mar the overall effect of your work. $.009/word ($9/1000 words)
I work in Word, using Grammarly and Track Changes, and am familiar with both American and British English usage. The latest Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster Collegiate Edition are my usual reference sources.
You can contact me at marie@theprosepolisher.com, through my website at www.theprosepolisher.com, or through this board.
SPECIAL! During the month of July, get careful copyediting with a side of proofreading thrown in for the price of copyediting alone. Down South here, we call that "lagniappe."
"I'd like to give thanks to the following people: ... Marie Sheehy Grip for her careful reading and skillful edits." – Cindy Brandner, author of Bare Knuckle and the Exit Unicorns series. (Read them... they are great books!)
