Have mercy. Lately, I've been reevaluating things. I've been ignoring these serial apps. I just wasn't interested in them. I have nothing against serials. I am writing one for KU soon. But as 2022 approaches, I'm thinking of ways to maximize my income and I've decided to try apps.
So for the last week, I've been researching serial apps and been submitting to them. It's frustrating and a lot of work because not only do you have to research the apps/platforms but you have to research whether or not they are reputable, etc. Outside of maybe 5 I knew, I had no idea there were so many serial apps. Many don't seem to be worth it because either the pay sucks or they are crooked. If anyone is serious about getting into serial apps then I suggest you join the Writing and Selling on Fiction Apps group on FB. This is THE place to be to learn anything you need to know about apps. They have every app listed in there and most of the members are on several of them. You read through threads and ask questions. The group is the only one I've seen anywhere dedicated to talking about apps.
So, back to me. Yeah, I started looking around and seeing more and more authors saying they are on apps and some are making pretty good money and others are make pocket-change but it's still money. Apps seem to be a good way to make some passive income without doing much. So, yeah. I've been hunting out apps. KISS invited me to submit so we shall see where all this leads. My books will also be on Dreame through Streetlib.
Now at the risk of you guys banning me from the board for being hypocritical, I am even thinking of submitting to Vella! Yep! But I would do it under a pen name because I've talked so much trash about it that no way I can put work put there with a straight face. LOL! I haven't made up my mind but thinking about it. What made me decide this? The bonuses of course! Amazon has started bribing Vella authors with bonuses and some do pretty well with them. If I do this, it will be more money even if a small amount.
We should always try to keep improving and that's what I want to do. I have books split between wide and KU. Wide is dead for me and the serial apps can give me a chance to breathe some life into them instead of having them just waste away with no visibility, etc. So I plan to publish my backlist books on these sites if I get accepted to any and see what happens.
Anyway, how are you guys shaking up things in 2022?
