There haven't been any new threads lately, so thought I'd add to my diary. *titters* I've always liked Shane. His threads on Kboards were entertaining, and I could honestly see a lot of myself in him. The positive and the negative, which we all have. None of us are perfect. I got on his email list once he left kboards just so I could keep up with what he's doing. And today I visited his website, which in my opinion looks super dope. Especially his background image. That ship is gorgeous, and he's got a really great tagline that makes me want to know more. I don't know how well bitbook is doing for him, but I sincerely hope it's doing okay. Shane posts on FB. He is in a FB group I am in and posted a few months ago. He's his same old weirdly, comical cynical self. LOL! Most of the Kboards people have migrated to FB so if you aren't there much then you might think they disappeared. Just like Wayne Stinnett. He's in the Wide for the Win group, etc. I don't think Wayne has been on Kboards in years.
There are tons though who I wonder if they really disappeared are on on other sites under different names, etc. Like Phoenix Sullivan. I never see her anywhere. David Gaughran is still on FB but he doesn't post in groups as much as he used to. He left the Wide for the Win group, which surprised me. I see Patty Jensen all the time. She popped up on Kboards recently and she is also in the Wide for the Win group on FB. She doesn't post much in there. Honestly, I see why. That group can run you the wrong way.
But, yeah, there are some folks I often wonder about. I heard Roslyn James has a private group on FB but I never hear anything about her. She was posting on Timothy's board at one while but seems to have stopped. Amanda seems to have disappeared completely. I don't know if she's on FB. I never kept up with her. She too posted on Timothy's board until folks blasted her and started mocking her then she left.
Joe Vasicek's in the WFTW group too. He posted the other day. What ever happened to David VanDyke who used to post here too? I haven't seen him anywhere in over a year. Hope he's okay.

I'm in Rosalind's reader group. I see posts from her, occasionally in my feed. I've been reading old threads on writer sanctum and see David's name quite a bit. But I haven't found any recent threads there yet, so not sure if he's still posting. There are so many private groups out there anymore, and not just on facebook, so who knows where writers disappear, too? I'll have to spend more time searching for folks. I'm glad that most of them seem to still be around though. |

Amanda is in a private group I'm a member of, she used to post quite a bit. David is in the group, I think, though not posting a lot. Same with Wayne.
The thing with a lot of groups I'm seeing is people are posting less and less. Except for the newbie groups, or places like the KDP forums, which are being overrun by the low/no content people.
20booksto50k is still pretty active, as is Wide for the Win, and Author Support Network is back up and getting a good number of posts.
I think the future is more focused groups, which leaves the absolute noobs in a bad place, since they won't be invited into private groups, and most places aren't set up for basic questions anymore.
I know I'm tired of groups where it's all basic questions, stuff that can be answered by a simple web search, or even reading a book on writing. Nobody reads, or searches, they just ask the same questions over and over. Sigh.
