blog.twitter.com/en_us/topics/product/2021/introducing-tip-jar.html Twitter is a cesspit full of some of the worst and most ridiculous bullying I have ever seen. And now bullies can tip each other for bullying you. Schweet! I suppose this could also be used for benevolent purposes, for say, when an author is being sued by another author. They can get fundraising help right on twitter rather than linking people to their GoFundMe page. Although, you still have to leave twitter to send money, so I'm not sure how this is any different than just leaving a link. If you wanted to try writing a novel entirely in tweets, you could use this to generate revenue for that. *shrugs* I dunno. I just got an email about this and thought I'd share.

Thanks for the link. I've sent it to a promoter I know. He does a huge amount for authors and other creatives and never charges. This might work for him.
Otherwise, yep, Twitter is a cesspit.

I hope someone finds it helpful. I haven't really heard of anyone making money directly from Twitter. Other than all the folks I see putting in their Paypal address and asking for money to help them pay the rent this month, etc. I see that a lot. With crowdfunding so common nowadays, I feel people have become more conditioned to fork over a few bucks at the drop of a link. Almost every YouTuber has a Patreon, and during live streams peeps give superchat money to have their questions answered and read on screen. And on one of the Wheel of Time YT channels I watch, during livestreams the hosts will sometimes mention the people watching from Twitter. Not twitter-related, but on the crowdfunding topic there's also Jemi. A writer friend of mine started one, and I had to start one to comment on her blog posts. jemi.app/dashboard/profile

This guy has been promoting horror indie movies, books, etc for years and he charges nothing. He does more than tweet. He will show your book ad on his webpage with a link to your website for free. The guy has built considerable following as well, plus he does podcasts with other media names. He's one of the few people who isn't trying to make a buck off creatives.

What a rare and precious human. Not that there's anything wrong with helping people and making money at the same time. But there are lots of ways to make money that don't require taking advantage of people.
