Proofread your listings. If you go to a forum to start a thread about a new service you are providing, or that you'd like to provide - proofread before posting. If you want people to give you money you need to give it your best effort. Re-read what you typed. You may even want to have someone else read your draft before publishing, if your eyes tend to gloss over your own errors. Put your best foot forward.
As authors we should also put our best feet forward when publishing our books. Edit, edit, edit. Get the best cover we can. Presentation is important.
I was just reading a thread over on Kboards and the person suggesting a new service wrote porpoise instead of purpose, hence the subject line of this thread. It made me giggle. It also made me doubt this person's professionalism and ability to make good use of my money. *Not that I have any money, but if I did, I wouldn't give it to the porpoise.* They also showed that they had no idea how KDP works, which also damaged their credibility.
So fact check everything whenever you're giving out advice or trying to pass yourself off as an expert. Take a little extra time to make sure you are correct. Don't be impatient. Don't be lazy. Put in the work. If you want folks to give you money, prove you are worth it!

I agree big time and it can lose you business if your ads look horrible. I buy a lot of services on Fiverr and nothing turns me off more or is more unprofessional than someone with an advertisement full of typos, bad grammar, or misspellings. I feel like if you can't even proofread your darn advertisements for your gigs then what confidence can I have in your services. Just like with authors. We can't have mistakes all in our blurbs, etc and expect people not to be turned off by that. No one wants to spend money on someone unprofessional. You could be the best seller in the world but if you come off as lazy or inept then you won't get much business.
As for Kboards, I remember MANY folks over the years from editors to promoters who plopped up threads over there that were pathetic. I remember this editor guy who got blasted by the group (this was years ago) when he spammed and then he had all these typos and everything and people asked how could they be confident he'd edit their work well and he couldn't even write a decent thread? LOL! I remember he had a nasty attitude as well because he tried to argue with the posters and then ended up saying stuff like they were nothing anyway because they were indies. Yeah, he actually went there. So they ran him off the board. But I never heard about that man's company since and I believe that one thread on Kboards killed his business because not only was his initial thread badly-written for an "editor" he disrespected indies and got into fighting matches IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE WORLD. Not a good look. Not at all.
When will people learn, just ONE bad impression can kill you. You won't believe the businesses that were ruined just from one bad thread on Absolute Write and Kboards!

A lot of people start their own businesses because they can't/refuse to follow rules, and have grandiose egos. They don't take anything seriously, half-ass their work, and blame anything that goes wrong on everyone else. If you try and give advice you're being hateful, or you don't know what you're talking about. It's sad for them, but if you act like a buffoon instead of a professional people will see and take their business elsewhere.
