I've been contacted by companies such as Dorrance who want to publish random books, apparently not caring if they're in the middle of a series or not. I stay away from these people. If they were legit, they'd want to publish the first book, right?

I'm sure they will be happy to take all the books you want to throw at them. But they probably reckon you won't be keen to pay up for their 'services' for books that already have covers etc.

Vanity publishers are sharks and predators. They go after anyone who will be naive enough to give them money. If you want a publisher, submit to a real one who pays you. Otherwise, stay indie.
