Sue Colleta is an awesome crime writer who believes in doing very thorough research for her books, like having her husband bury her alive cos it happens to a character, getting locked inside an oil drum, or visiting a haunted house. I'd rather rely on my imagination than experience having someone bury me alive. 
But if it works for her, hey, more power to her.

I've acted out scenes as my characters (actor in a former life), but nothing quite that, um, extreme. I am noting down the instructions for escaping from a grave! Most of my research involves traveling to the places I write about, especially for my time travel romances and cozy mystery series (which is set in a village in England). It was such a sacrifice to spend all that time at Dover Castle, and on Hadrian's Wall, and in London.... What we do for our readers.  |
