I confess, I have never read an alt history book. Who do you think is the best author in the genre? Give me your recommendation.

Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle is very good. To be honest, I enjoyed the TV show more than I did the book. Harry Turtledove is probably the best known alt-history author. He has a fabulous series called The War that Came Early, but you kind of have to be into WWII history to really enjoy them, I think.

Thanks for the recs for the Man in the High Castle. I've heard the name but had no idea what it was about. Harry Turtledove! That's the name I was trying to think of but couldn't remember. Peeps on a forum I was on loooong ago were into him.

Turtledove is very good for alternate history. There's also a really weird subgenre of police procedurals set in worlds where the Nazis won if you're into that kind of thing. Even my own stuff can fit into alternate history and you don't even have to squint that hard...

Terrible for the poor book people who have to live in it, but fun to read safely from our world, for sure. Alternate history is always a very fun what if situation to muse over, if nothing else.
