Has anyone here used the kindle comics creator or published a comic book some other way on some other platform? Have you ever purchased an indie comic? Do you read comics? If you have any thoughts or feelings about comic books and comic book publishing, here is a thread for you.

I've dabbled in trying to get my books made into graphic novels, but the best real price I could nail down was about $25K to create each one, plus printing. I'd have to sell a lot of copies to justify that risk. For my available business budget, I'm better off producing audiobooks or translations, costing a lot less.
Adding to the risk, graphic artists are often temperamental people. Stories abound in the industry of brilliant artists who can't deliver on time, or whose work becomes substandard when it's being done off someone else's material instead of their own inspiration. If one finds a reliable team (it takes a script writer to condense a book, an artist, an inker, and a letterer, at a minimum), that team is usually booked up.
Not to say it's not do-able, but usually it seems like successful comic/graphic novel creators are often driven by one or two persons, with support, from the inside.

Wow davidvandyke that is spendy, Yikes! I suppose if one was both a writer and an illustrator they might be able to do their comics themselves, which might be cheaper? I know there are some really talented folks who do webcomics. But perhaps it's a lot more complicated and expensive when printing onto paper? I know next to nothing of the process. (shakes head)

I think the fact that grapic novels are so pricy to make is the reason why we're so many crowdfunding campaigns for comics and graphic novels of late.

Crowdfunding is a great way to make our more ambitious projects spring to life. (nods head)

Crowdfunding's an interesting idea. If I get serous about it, I may go that route.
