I know most writing forums are aimed (understandably) at people who write novels, short stories, and poetry, but as a novelist, I find myself in a situation where I'm writing for a video game. The most challenging thing so far, as someone coming from writing characters that I have complete control of, is trying to create a protagonist that expresses the player. So, not boring, but still making choices the player would probably make. Or having the other characters fill in the blank spaces. It's a balance, in this case. And it's hard. Anyone else have experience with this?

That sounds really fun and challenging. If you don't find anyone on here who is a video game writer I wonder if you might find help from reading about litrpg? www.reddit.com/r/litrpg/

I've read a ton of litrpg, but unfortunately it's just not the same thing. It's like trying to tell someone who wants to write screenplays to read novels. They're both writing, but the ultimate medium is different and has different requirements. But thanks! I will keep looking around.

So that wasn't helpful at all then. (shakes head sadly) So are you actually writing a video game? I wasn't sure if you were writing a video game or if you were writing a novel with a character who was playing a video game. There must be forums out there dedicated to video game writing and creation. There are forums for everything! Hope you find what you're looking for soon!
