12,023 words all together total continued on from yesterday. I am starting to divide it all up into two docs, behind the scenes all the stuff I need to know that happens off screen and in backstory and one for everything that actually happens on the page in the book. I also drew a map. I'm having fun and feeling hopeful! Great job prolificwriter, 4130 words is terrific! It's also fantastic that we both have found a way to write that works for us and makes us happy and productive!!!! 5,400 was my total for today. They're planning words, but I've started inserting actual dialogue in some parts, too. The goal is to just keep adding more and more detail to my outline until it becomes a completed book. I know who one of the murderers is, but I have no idea for the second, so that's kind of fun.

Great job prolificwriter. You made it one more day!!! I managed 1,213 words today. But I added dates so now I know what day everything is happening, and I added in stuff and deleted stuff. I did more edit-like stuff than moving the story outline forward, I guess. But I am getting close to the end. Then once I have the whole story outlined I can go back to the beginning and start adding in details and actual storification.

This morning I was able to extend my detailed outline out to the solving of the case. Then I started dividing into chapters and created a mini outline where I just write down the suspects and clues as they appear. My biggest problem right now is that I've got 4 people involved in the 4 murders and only 6 suspects, so halfway through my sleuth figures out who did the first two murders, then a few chapters later she figures out who did the other two, and then a couple chapters later I have the big scene where the bad guys trap the sleuth and confess everything. I either need more suspects or I need to pare down the murderers/murders. But this is my first murder mystery so I'm giving myself slack for not getting it perfect right away. Tomorrow will be a major restructuring day.

I've done much better today, and am rewriting the whole thing from the beginning to make it better. Have gone through first four chapters so far, am paused somewhere in chapter four still. I was up to 19,000 words but now I'm down to 10,000 because of mass deletions of scenes that don't work anymore. I'll replace it all in time. My dream of how this was all going to work has been shattered to smithereens, but I'm still all in on the process of reality. I do think it's getting better though.

I have many different versions of my mystery, and I've gone back and forth on them. I keep getting stuck, and I've wanted to give up a few times, but I keep coming back because I truly am committed to this book. I think I've finally chosen the version I like the best, and it's the longest outline at 26,498 words. I'm not sure how many words I've written today cos I started the day on one version and then switched to the other, but I record my word counts in my facebook group and here are today's counts so far:

Today's word counts. They keep getting smaller cos I don't like this part, and I'm tired, and whingey.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but I haven’t stopped writing. In fact, I’ve been writing more than ever!
For the past 30 days, I’ve been writing a minimum of 3,500 words a day. I got the idea from another author and I quite like it. It’s not a super easy amount to do but it’s also not impossibly hard either. It’s a nice balance between the two, which is why I think I’ve stuck with it. I plan on keeping this up for at least a year just to see if I can, but right now I’m taking it day by day.
Total word count for the past 30 days: 107,876 words written! That’s a little more than 25,000 words a week, which I’m quite happy with.
Also, I’ve been editing each day’s words as well, which I prefer to waiting until the whole book is done. Much less stress and it keeps the story fresh in my mind.
I hope your writing is going well as well!

Great job, prolific. I'm glad you've found a system that's working for you. Splendid job on all the words. I've been sick so I'm using that as my excuse for not writing anything. I need to get back to it though. It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but I haven’t stopped writing. In fact, I’ve been writing more than ever! I just wrote another short book, it's a nonfiction about constipation remedies. It's just a little over 5,000 words. I started it last night and finished it this morning. Now I have to make the cover and write the blurb. And I have an idea for my next book, too.
