I find that I really like being surprised, and that I don't like making a lot of decisions or having to be in charge. So while I'll set out in a particular direction, I like to let the universe (plot, characters, funny typos) tug me along in whichever direction it wants to go. So I am definitely much more of a tuggee than a tugger. A tugger would decide from the get-go the direction they wanted to go in and then they'd set off and arrive exactly where they planned. Some peeps are prolly bi-tugual, and tend to switch positions depending on their mood and the needs of the story. You could also say outliner or pantser, but I think tugger and tuggee is more fun! Which one are you?

Hmmm. It's like Dr. Who for me. Eleventh Doctor: "There are fixed points throughout time where things must stay exactly the way they are." So I know that the story has to hit certain points, and I probably know the ending or at least the premise of the ending. But I can't make a detailed outline, I have to let the story and the characters lead the way or I get bored. I tried once, it was a disaster. So I would be, perhaps, a multi-tuggal tuggee.

My characters like to turn evil on me, and my evil characters like to turn good. And if I'm not careful they all start hooking up behind my back. I tried to fight it, but in the end I learned it wasn't worth it. So I just let 'em do their thing now, and it keeps us all happy.
Also, you got a like for that Dr Who reference. I LOVE Doctor Who!!!!

I'm firmly a pantser, can't outline anything or I end up not writing it, as my brain considers that telling the story, so it's done. Argh.
I tend to have a general idea about what's going to happen, how the story ends, but once I'm in the zone and writing, things change. Plot shifts around, character go off and do whatever, and while I end up somewhere about where I thought I'd be, the journey was often quite different.
To me, this is the fun in writing. I have these stories in my head, and watching them come out and be what they should be is so exciting. But, this is how it works for me, and for others it's completely different, and that's fine. We each walk our own path, in life and in our careers.
