I'm trying out discord, so I made a server for discussing writing inclusive speculative fiction. Check it out if that sounds interesting. discord.gg/MCPanvM

Just joined! I don’t know if I’ll be active, but I’ll try. I do like Discord. I think I’m in 4 or 5 server groups now.

How do you manage the notifications? Obviously there's something I'm missing because I know a ton of people who love it.

There are notification settings for both servers and for channels within servers. I believe the default is to be notified when someone posts in a channel. You can keep that, have no notifications for a channel, or just get them for @ replies (which is what I’ve done). You can also mute a channel if you want to. You can still see posts, but you won’t see anything when you go to a server and see which channels have new posts. I hope that helps.

I guess it's like any messaging system, you have to use to make it work for you. I just get so swept up in reading everything that's being posted that it quickly becomes too much for me. I need to be more judicious with my notification settings I think.

Hey all, I set that up right before I got really sick with the flue. I've been too sick to do much of anything online. I also have no idea how discord works. *titters* I should prolly visit thought to see if anything is going on.

Some ideas:
It might be good to have more chat channels to keep things going. Maybe one for what we’re writing now, another for what we’re reading, and another for all other content we’re consuming. There could be a channel for writing advice, or hints, or something like that. Oh, and maybe one for bragging about sales and releases.
Don’t worry if it’s not a big community. I sometimes feel the bigger the Discord server the harder it is to follow discussions. Small but active feels cool to me.
That’s all that comes to me at the moment. Hope you’re feeling much better!
