Schadenfreude is a nice antidote to their sour grapes, eh?
It's an appropriate emotion when dealing with those who brought it on themselves. It's the Darwin Awards of the trade world, and I have no sympathy either for those who refuse to take control of their own destiny.

I'm with you there. I may not sell a lot, I may be behind a lot of folks who started around the same time I did, but I can get my work out there and have control of what happens to it. When it's available, there are possibilities!

Wow, the ignorance over there is amazing. I popped into the self-publishing thread and some lady started a thread on box sets. She said she wants to put together a set of her series books in a set for a discount price and does anything like this exist because she couldn't find any when she searched on Amazon. WHHAAAATTT??? Are you effing kidding me? ? This person doesn't know that box sets have been around for ages and indies have BEEN doing box sets for a discounted price??? Maybe I misunderstood but that's what she seemed to say and I am floored. And where the hell did she search on Amazon where she didn't find any discounted sets when 99 cent sets are probably 75% of the kindle store? ? I mean, how can you reason with stuff like that? And she doesn't seem new. Sounds like she has been self-publishing already. I'm just speechless. Someone told her to go to Kboards. She needs to go somewhere because she knows zilch about self-publishing if she isn't aware of how popular box sets are with indies. She'd probably pass out if someone mentioned authors getting on lists with multiauthor sets! LOL! Wow. Yet, they run people like me off who'd gladly lend knowledge to newbies if not for the board's stuck up attitudes.

I think she is looking for a way to bundle her books rather than actually creating a separate box set...? I've had similar questions by newbies--they expect or hope for a way to link together current books in a bundle.

It could be as David said. I've seen plenty of those posts, and some about how to make a box set of physical books. When you try to explain how that stuff works, you can tell the info is going over their heads.
To be honest, AW doesn't want anyone to actually explain how self publishing works. They'd rather it not be discussed at all, and only put up that dumb forum to keep people coming there. When these folks invariably fail at doing it themselves, they can be lead to the Truth and Light About Real Publishing (TM).
