In 2013 I published 2 books. In 2014 I published 3 books. In 2015 I published 2 books. In 2016 I published 4 books In 2017 I published 16 books. (My goal was 12) In 2018 I published 4 books. (My goal was 24) In 2019 my goal is 36 books.
Keeping in mind, my books are all either short stories, non-fiction short reads, or low content books like a journal. If I was a novelist even 2 books a year could be really good!

My goal for the past few years has been the same: 12 50k-length novels a year. So far, I’ve only managed to do 3-5 novels a year, but I’m sure 2019 will be different. I’m also thinking about starting some new pen names next year and doing some experimenting. Maybe we can do a monthly check-in? Like we can talk about how January went on February 1st and so on. It might motivate/shame us into doing more to reach our goals!

Finding time for my own writing will be a stretch next year. I will be very pleased if I can get it into a regular writing routine. If I did have the time, I would be happy with 150k (fully edited & ready to publish). I don't intend to publish next year.
One thing I did look out for this year on kBoards was Azalea's thread, which fell through the floor with the 'hullabaloo'. Her struggle to achieve her goals and response to 'failures', with revision of goals. In my experience, goals only aid motivation if they feel achievable & they are demotivating or ignored if they seem out of reach. I appreciated the method Azalea reached of using what she had achieved last month plus a bit and could understand that working. Longwinded way of agreeing with prolificwriter.

My goal is publishing something new every month, even if it's only a short story

Ah ha! We do have a thread about this. Excellent. Good goals, @kateelizabeth!
My micro goal is still 36 books in 2019. My bigger goal is 52 books. And my super goal is 365 books in 2019. I like to dream big. Right now I'm just trying to work out a plan for all that content. I have one bottle of blue energy left, so that's helpful. I need to see if they sell blue energy on Amazon.

Okay, so the thing I really want, my deepest desire, is to create TUOK. I keep starting and stopping cos I get scared, but I went ahead and unpublished my false-tuok books and I'm going to try again. I can't let fear stop me this time. And I am repenting of my 36 short, sub-par books that wouldn't sell in 2019 goal for my new one. I already feel quite anxious about this, but it's prolly what I was put on this earth to do, so I'm gonna do it. No Quitsies.

One thing I did look out for this year on kBoards was Azalea's thread She's updated it recently: Azalea's thread. I really admire the straightforward, systematic and realistic way she has approached indie writing as a career.

Thanks for the link dormouse! I’m not sure if I’ve read that thread before or not. I think I’ve published two journals this year, so far. I need to check their publication dates. I am back to my original goal of 36 books, and right now I’m in research and organizion mode. I agree that goals should be manageable, and bespoke to our individual needs. Also it’s oksy if we don’t meet them every time. Goal setting is a journey not a destination.
